Both marry green tea to mint; this Lipton version leans harder on the mint, a bright, sharp peppermint-and-spearmint hit that is the first and last thing you taste, with the green base playing a quieter, delicately nutty supporting role underneath. The pyramid bags let the leaf open fully, and the finish is properly clean and cool, without a trace of bitterness. Where the Cotterley is the more even green-and-mint balance, this is the one to pick if you primarily want a refreshing mint cup that happens to have a green tea backbone. Brewing
Brewing the perfect cup
Water temperature80°C, easiest to hit with a thermometer or a variable kettle; there is no reliable countdown, since cooling speed changes with the kettle and the amount of water in it. Pour at a full 100°C boil and you lose the amino acids that make green tea smooth and sweet; the mint cannot hide that.
MeasureOne pyramid bag for each 200ml, roughly a standard mug. For loose leaf, use one heaped teaspoon.
Steep2 to 3 minutes; go past that and bitterness creeps in under the mint. Remove the bag promptly; do not squeeze.
ServiceLeave out milk and sugar; the green tea's own sweet grassiness and the mint are enough. If you like, a slice of lemon adds some brightness.
Cold brewA glass jug, 250ml of cold water and one pyramid, chilled together for 4 to 8 hours. Cold water draws out the sweeter compounds first, which makes this the smoothest way to enjoy mint green tea when the weather is hot.
Iced versionMake a concentrate at double strength: 100ml of 80°C water on one pyramid for 2 minutes. Cool it, then build the glass: ice first, the concentrate over it, cold water to finish.
