Fox's Biscuits Rocky Caramel Biscuit Bars Multipack, 7 Pack 136.5g
If you already find the plain Rocky sweet, this is not the answer to that. Two sweet components sit in one bar with nothing bitter anywhere between them, so whatever you drink alongside has to do the correcting: black coffee or a strong unsweetened tea, never a sweetened one. Anyone picturing caramel that pulls and stretches should buy confectionery instead, because the caramel here is a note carried inside a biscuit bar rather than a layer you can see.
Fox's Biscuits Rocky Caramel Biscuit Bars Multipack, in brief.
Fox's Rocky Caramel is the caramel version of the Rocky bar, with the caramel inside a fully enclosing chocolate flavoured coating rather than as a coating on the outside, seven sealed bars at nineteen and a half grams each, picked into the Teas.co.uk curator selection as the longer and slower of the two Rocky builds.
Caramel does not simply add sweetness to a covered bar, it slows it down: chocolate releases and clears, caramel holds and coats, so this one occupies the mouth longer and finishes later than the Original. The pack is only three and a half grams heavier, half a gram a bar.
Per the published listing it is a shortcake biscuit bar with a caramel topping (caramel filling 21%), all in a milk chocolate flavoured coating (36%) made with vegetable fats, cocoa mass and skimmed milk powder.
Caramel does a specific job in a covered bar, and it is not simply to add another sweet thing. It slows the bar down. Chocolate releases and clears; caramel holds, coats and stays, so a caramel bar occupies the mouth for noticeably longer than the plain version does and finishes later. That is why the caramel Rocky reads as the heavier eat of the two even though the pack is only three and a half grams different, half a gram a bar, from the Original.
Curator notes: the tasting profile is our own editorial assessment against the current pack format and the brand's published description. We run same-day UK dispatch on every order placed before 2pm Monday to Friday. Storage, the split against the caramel-coated bars and why this one will not dunk are also published in the detailed Q and A tab below.

The Story Behind Fox's
Fox's is a British biscuit house and one of the two names that between them account for most of the wrapped biscuit bars in a UK lunchbox. The Rocky is its bar format rather than its tin format, built for a packed lunch, a glovebox or a drawer at work.
The ingredient list, the allergen advice and the best-before date must all be read off the current UK pack rather than taken from this page.
Packaging: Follow the current UK pack and local-authority guidance; components can require different disposal routes.
What You Are Actually Buying
- Count and weight: seven bars at nineteen and a half grams each, one hundred and thirty-six point five grams in the pack.
- Half a gram a bar over the Original: the caramel pack is three and a half grams heavier across seven bars. That is a smaller difference than the name implies, and it is worth knowing that you are not buying a noticeably bigger bar.
- Caramel inside, not outside: the coating is chocolate flavoured. This is not a caramel-coated product, and that is the difference between this and the McVitie's Gold.
- Individually sealed: nothing goes stale between Monday and Friday and nothing arrives crushed at the bottom of a bag.
- What it is not: not a dunking biscuit, not a soft caramel bar and not a dark chocolate product. If you want caramel that pulls and stretches, buy a confectionery bar rather than a biscuit bar.
Ideal Serving Conditions
Caramel makes a bar longer in the mouth, and everything about serving it follows from that. A longer finish needs more help clearing, and a softer internal component means temperature matters for structure as well as for the covering.
The Coffee Break Serve
- Cool room temperature: important here for two reasons. A warm covering bends, and a warm caramel component goes slack and squeezes out of the break rather than staying put.
- Do not dunk: an enclosed bar has no exposed porous crumb, and a caramel bar fails a dunk faster than a plain one because the softer component gives first.
- Eat it slowly: the point of caramel is length. Snapping it into three and eating the pieces between sips gets far more out of the bar than biting straight through.
The Pudding Serve
- With plain yoghurt: sourness against caramel is the oldest correction there is, and it works better here than sharp fruit does.
- Over vanilla ice cream: chopped and scattered, where the cold firms the caramel and gives the pieces a cleaner bite.
- With banana: caramel and banana needs no explanation, and a chopped bar through a bowl of sliced banana and yoghurt is close to a banoffee for no work at all.
- In a salted fridge slab: set into dark chocolate with flaky salt over the top, which supplies the two things the bar has none of.
Getting It Right with a Hot Drink
- Pairing: strong black coffee or espresso first, strong unsweetened black tea second. Both cut a long caramel finish.
- Avoid: hot chocolate, sweetened lattes, milky teas and anything caramel-flavoured, all of which extend a finish that is already the longest on this shelf.
- Dunking: no. Eat it alongside.
- Storage: cool, dry and out of direct sun with the outer pack closed. Warmth affects a caramel bar more than a plain one, because the softer component moves first.
- Best with: a mid-afternoon coffee, a packed lunch, or the point in a long drive when a plain bar would not be enough.

The taste profile
How does it compare
Fox's Biscuits Rocky Caramel Biscuit Bars Multipack, 7 Pack 136.5g brings caramel, chocolate and biscuit in one sealed piece, and almost every build below is really about supplying the sourness or the salt that a long caramel finish needs. Six builds cover the strong coffee break, a no-work banoffee bowl, a salted dark chocolate slab, an ice cream bowl, a yoghurt pot and the lunchbox week.
Made with this tea
The Stronger Coffee Break
How to make The Stronger Coffee Break with Fox's Rocky Caramel.
- 1 bar Fox's Rocky Caramel
- 1 strong black coffee or espresso, unsweetened
- A glass of cold water
- Snap the bar into three and eat the pieces between sips. The point of caramel is length, and biting straight through wastes it.
- Keep it out of the coffee. A caramel bar fails a dunk faster than a plain one, because the softer component gives first.
- Finish with cold water to clear the coating from the roof of the mouth.
What you'll end up with: The pairing that makes the longest finish on this shelf read as generous rather than as cloying.
No-Work Banoffee Bowl
How to make No-Work Banoffee Bowl with Fox's Rocky Caramel.
- 2 bars Fox's Rocky Caramel, chilled
- 2 ripe bananas, sliced
- 250g thick plain yoghurt
- A small pinch of flaky salt
- Chop the chilled bars. Cold bars cut cleanly; a warm caramel bar smears across the knife.
- Layer yoghurt and banana into two bowls and scatter the biscuit over the top.
- Finish with the smallest pinch of flaky salt, which is the correction caramel has always wanted.
What you'll end up with: Banoffee for no work at all, with the sourness of plain yoghurt doing the job the coffee does in a cup.
Salted Dark Chocolate Slab
How to make Salted Dark Chocolate Slab with Fox's Rocky Caramel.
- 4 bars Fox's Rocky Caramel
- 250g dark chocolate, 70 per cent
- 80g butter
- A good pinch of flaky salt
- Chop the bars into chunky pieces and keep them cold so the caramel stays put.
- Melt the dark chocolate and butter together until glossy and let it cool for three minutes.
- Fold the biscuit through, press into a lined tin and scatter the salt over the top.
- Chill for two hours and cut with a warmed knife.
What you'll end up with: Salted caramel assembled from a lunchbox bar, with the dark chocolate and the salt supplying the two things the bar has none of.
Caramel Crunch Ice Cream Bowl
How to make Caramel Crunch Ice Cream Bowl with Fox's Rocky Caramel.
- 3 bars Fox's Rocky Caramel, chilled
- 8 scoops vanilla ice cream
- A pinch of instant coffee granules
- Chop the chilled bars. The cold firms the caramel and gives the pieces a cleaner bite.
- Scatter over the ice cream rather than stirring through.
- Dust with the coffee granules, which are not decoration but the bitterness the bar is missing.
What you'll end up with: Cold caramel bites harder and reads cleaner than room-temperature caramel does, which is the whole trick of this bowl.
Sour Yoghurt Pot
How to make Sour Yoghurt Pot with Fox's Rocky Caramel.
- 2 bars Fox's Rocky Caramel
- 300g thick plain yoghurt
- 1 sharp apple, diced
- Break the bars into shards rather than crumbs.
- Spoon the yoghurt into two glasses and stir the diced apple through it.
- Scatter the biscuit on top and serve straight away, before the pieces soften.
What you'll end up with: Sourness clears the tongue better than sharpness does, which is why yoghurt suits a caramel bar more than fruit alone.
The Lunchbox Week
How to make The Lunchbox Week with Fox's Rocky Caramel.
- 1 pack Fox's Rocky Caramel
- A lunchbox or a desk drawer
- A sharp apple a day
- Store the whole pack somewhere genuinely cool. A caramel bar minds warmth more than a plain one, because the softer component moves first.
- Take one bar out at a time and leave the rest sealed.
- Pack a sharp fruit alongside and keep the drink black and unsweetened.
- Check the wrapper for a sag before packing a bar that has been somewhere warm. It is still safe, but the caramel has moved.
What you'll end up with: A working week with two spare, with the caramel still where it should be by Friday.

Sourcing & blend. Fox's Biscuits Rocky Caramel Biscuit Bars Multipack, 7 Pack 136.5g is made by Fox's, a British biscuit house and one of the two names that between them account for most of the wrapped biscuit bars in a UK lunchbox. The Rocky is the company's bar format rather than its tin format, built for a packed lunch, a glovebox or a drawer at work. Caramel is the most established of the departures from the plain bar, and the one that changes the eating most, because it alters the length of the bar rather than only its taste.

- In: seven individually sealed wheat biscuit bars with a characterising caramel component, each fully enclosed in a chocolate flavoured coating.
