Turmeric Latte (Plant Based)
A cafe golden milk at home from a tea bag: turmeric concentrate, frothed oat or coconut, pinch of pepper. Lemon as zest not juice, no split.

A turmeric latte, the golden milk you see all over cafes, made at home from a tea bag for a fraction of the price: a strong lemon, ginger and turmeric concentrate under frothed oat or coconut milk, with a pinch of black pepper to help the turmeric carry its colour and flavour through the milk fat. Keep the lemon as zest rather than juice, as juice would split the plant milk. It uses Good Earth Lemon, Ginger and Turmeric, which is caffeine free; ten minutes, dairy free, one good sized cup.

For the plain hot version, see how to brew lemon, ginger and turmeric tea, or take it as a morning lemon, ginger and turmeric shot.
You'll need
- 2 Good Earth Lemon, Ginger and Turmeric tea bags
- 120ml rolling boil water, for a strong concentrate
- 1 thin slice fresh ginger
- A pinch of cracked black pepper
- 200ml barista oat milk or coconut drink
- 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup, to taste
- A little lemon zest on the foam, optional, instead of juice
Method
- Make a concentrate: steep the 2 bags and the fresh ginger in 120ml rolling boil water, covered, for 6 minutes for a deep golden base.
- Lift the bags and ginger out, then stir in the pepper and honey while the brew is hot.
- Heat the barista oat or coconut milk to about 60C, steaming not boiling, and froth it.
- Pour the golden concentrate into a warmed cup, then add the warm milk slowly while stirring.
- Spoon the foam on top. Finish with a little lemon zest on the foam instead of juice; juice in the milk curdles, zest does not.
