Divide the 198g box by its ten bags and each sealed portion comes to 19.8g, which is the whole point of the design. Every bag stays as crisp as the day it was packed until somebody tears it open.
A small cookie with a chocolate dough
Like the full-size Double Chocolate, the Minis use a cocoa dough rather than a plain one, with chips running through it. The published ingredient list names dark chocolate chips at 15 percent alongside fat reduced cocoa powder, and the allergen statement lists wheat (gluten), milk and soya. The result tastes darker than the plain Maryland and not as buttery, with a faint bitterness that keeps the sweetness in check.
Shrinking the cookie changes the bake as well. A small biscuit has proportionally more rim, and the rim is where browning and drying happen, so a Mini comes out crisper than its full-size relative, with a little more toasted character. Once a bag is open the snap fades inside a couple of days and never returns, so each bag is best treated as a single sitting.
Ten bags or six
We also stock a six-bag Minis Double Chocolate Chip box, 118.8g in all, so the question is only how many portions you need. The ten suits a household that packs lunches every weekday or keeps a stash in a desk drawer; the six suits one that only wants a few. Either way the sealed bags are the point, and emptying them into a biscuit barrel throws that away.
For lunchboxes, send the bag whole rather than tipping the cookies into a tub, because a sealed bag stays crisp for far longer and nothing has to be shared or resealed. At home with a pot of tea on the table, the full-size sleeve is the better buy, since there is little sense in opening ten wrappers just to fill a plate.
In the cup and in the kitchen
Our choice of drink is a black tea at medium strength with a splash of milk, brewed for about three minutes, or a plain filter coffee. The cocoa dough already brings a little bitterness, so a stewed pot only doubles up on it. Dunking is possible but fiddly: two seconds at most, and keep a firm hold, because there is far less cookie to lose than with a full-size one.
The crumbs at the bottom of each bag are no loss. Because the dough itself is chocolate, crushed Minis turn into a dark, even crumb with no need for extra cocoa, ready to press into a cheesecake tin or scatter over ice cream. Crush a few bags inside a food bag with a rolling pin, then bind the crumb with melted butter before pressing it down.

FAQ
What does each of the ten bags weigh? The box holds 198g across ten bags, which works out at 19.8g a bag.
Why are the Minis crisper than full-size Maryland cookies? A small cookie has more rim for its size, and the rim is where the bake browns and dries, so the whole thing ends up crunchier.
Can you dunk Maryland Minis? Only just. Two seconds and a firm grip, because a cookie this size has no margin before it disappears into the mug.
Which allergens does the box list? The published ingredient list gives wheat (gluten), milk and soya. Check the current box, as recipes can change.
Can I bake with them? Yes. Crushed, they make a dark chocolate crumb for a cheesecake base with no need for extra cocoa powder.
Curator's note: Keep the box in the cupboard, the bags sealed, and hand them out one at a time. Any that break on the way home go straight into a cheesecake base. Lee, teas.co.uk, Tunbridge Wells.
