A Proper Pot of Yorkshire Tea Original Loose Leaf

How to brew Yorkshire Original loose leaf in a pot: a teaspoon per cup plus one for the pot, boiling water, a four to five minute steep, then strain.

A Proper Pot Of Yorkshire Tea Original Loose Leaf

Brewing the loose leaf is the old pot method, and it is worth the small effort. Given room in a warmed pot, the leaves open out and give more flavour than a teabag can. It is the same dependable Yorkshire blend, just made the traditional way.

You'll need

  • 1 heaped teaspoon of Yorkshire Tea Original Loose Leaf per cup, plus one for the pot
  • Freshly boiled water (100C), about 200ml per cup
  • A teapot with an infuser, or a separate strainer
  • Milk and sugar to taste

Method

  1. Warm the teapot, then add one heaped teaspoon of loose leaf per cup plus one for the pot.
  2. Pour over freshly boiled water at a full 100C and steep for 4 to 5 minutes.
  3. Stir once, then pour through a strainer into the cups.
  4. Add milk and sugar to taste. Loose leaf brews stronger than a bag.
  5. Give the leaves room to move in a roomy pot, as cramped leaves brew unevenly.
What you'll end up with: A full, bright cup with real depth, the proper loose leaf way.
