This is the antithesis of a builder brew, and it should be judged that way. Single origin Himalayan whole leaf in tea temples, it pours a light gold with a high floral aroma and that dry, grapey muscatel note found only in Darjeeling, the reason people call it the champagne of teas. It is brisk and clean without weight or bitterness, which is precisely the point: this is an afternoon-poise tea, not a morning fuel one. The single thing I would warn against is treating it like a normal black. Do not add milk, it flattens the muscatel entirely, and do not over-steep or stew it, three minutes off a slightly cooled boil keeps it bright. Anyone wanting strong and malty should stay with the Dilmah Ceylon; anyone curious why Darjeeling has a reputation will find it well made and properly characterful here. A lemon slice is the only acceptable addition. Drink it for finesse rather than for any promised pick me up.
