Iced Tetley Pure Green Tea
Brewed double strength then poured over ice, so it stays smooth and crisp rather than watery. The summer way to drink Tetley Pure Green.

Iced Tetley Pure Green Tea is the summer serve that most people get wrong. Brew Green Tea normally, pour it over ice, and the melt waters it down to nothing. The fix is to brew it double strength so the ice dilutes it back to a proper, balanced cup instead of a weak one.

Serves one. You still keep the temperature low, 80C rather than boiling, so the concentrate stays smooth and sweet rather than bitter. The result is a long, pale green glass that is properly refreshing on a hot day and nothing like the stewed iced tea from a bottle.
You'll need
- 1 tea bag of Tetley Pure Green Tea
- 100ml just off boil water cooled to about 80C (boil the kettle, then let it stand for roughly 90 seconds)
- 100ml cold water
- A tall glass of ice
- Optional: a thin slice of lemon or a few mint leaves
Method
- Brew it double strength so the ice does not water it down. Rest the boiled kettle for about 90 seconds, then pour 100ml of roughly 80C water over one tea bag.
- Steep for 2 minutes only, then lift the bag out and let it drain. Do not squeeze it.
- Let the concentrate cool for a few minutes, then stir in 100ml of cold water to bring it back to normal strength.
- Fill a tall glass with ice and pour the cooled green tea over. Add a slice of lemon or a few mint leaves if you like.
- Brew extra concentrate and keep it in the fridge for a day, ready to pour over ice on demand.
