Yogi Bhajan was the Sikh teacher who first served what became the Yogi Tea recipe at his Kundalini yoga classes in Los Angeles in the early 1970s. The Classic Chai blend (cinnamon, cardamom, clove, black pepper, ginger) was a free pour at the end of every session. Students kept asking for the recipe. By 1984 the company existed to sell it.
The German operation matters because it explains why Yogi tastes the same in Tunbridge Wells as it does in Hamburg. The German factory works to the Oregon recipe specs, with EU-grown organic spice where possible and a single sourcing standard the US team signs off.
