How to Brew Lemon, Ginger and Turmeric Tea

Method

  1. Boil fresh water to a full rolling boil; turmeric needs the full 100C to release its colour and gentle pepper note.
  2. Put the bag in the mug and pour the boiling water over.
  3. Cover and steep for 5 to 6 minutes. The longer covered steep is what makes it taste warming and full rather than thin and yellow.
  4. Lift the bag out, pressing it against the side a couple of times so all the colour goes in.
  5. Stir in honey while it is hot, with a tiny grind of black pepper, which helps the turmeric read more clearly.
  6. Finish with a slice of lemon and drink it hot; turmeric fades faster than black tea once it cools.
