How to Brew Lemon, Ginger and Turmeric Tea
teas.co.uk · 7 min · Serves 1
You'll need
- 1 Good Earth Lemon, Ginger and Turmeric tea bag
- 250ml water at a full rolling boil
- 1 teaspoon honey, to taste
- A grind of black pepper, optional, which helps the turmeric come through
- A slice of lemon, to finish
Method
- Boil fresh water to a full rolling boil; turmeric needs the full 100C to release its colour and gentle pepper note.
- Put the bag in the mug and pour the boiling water over.
- Cover and steep for 5 to 6 minutes. The longer covered steep is what makes it taste warming and full rather than thin and yellow.
- Lift the bag out, pressing it against the side a couple of times so all the colour goes in.
- Stir in honey while it is hot, with a tiny grind of black pepper, which helps the turmeric read more clearly.
- Finish with a slice of lemon and drink it hot; turmeric fades faster than black tea once it cools.
