How to Brew Tetley Pure Green Tea
teas.co.uk · 4 min · Serves 1
You'll need
- 1 tea bag of Tetley Pure Green Tea
- 200ml just off boil water cooled to about 80C (boil the kettle, then let it stand for roughly 90 seconds)
- Optional: 1 thin slice of lemon to brighten the cup
Method
- Boil fresh water, then let the kettle stand for about 90 seconds so it drops to roughly 80C. Water at a full 100C scalds green tea and turns it bitter.
- Put one Tetley Pure Green Tea bag in your mug and pour over 200ml of the cooled water.
- Steep for 2 to 3 minutes, no longer. Then lift the bag out and let it drain on its own. Do not squeeze it, as squeezing forces out the harsh tannins.
- Drink it as it is. The natural sweet, vegetal notes need no milk or sugar. Add a thin slice of lemon only if you like a brighter cup.
- The same bag takes a second short steep, giving a milder but still flavourful cup.
