You'll need

Method

  1. Warm your mug, then steep 2 tea bags in just 100ml of just boiled water for 4 minutes, covered.
  2. Lift out the bags, pressing them gently so you get a strong, dark concentrate.
  3. Stir the vanilla syrup into the hot concentrate.
  4. Heat the milk to about 65C, steaming but not boiling, and froth it until silky.
  5. Pour the concentrate into the mug, then hold the foam back with a spoon as you top up with the milk, letting the froth slide on last.
  6. Drink it while the foam still holds.
  7. No vanilla syrup? A small spoon of sugar with a couple of drops of vanilla extract does the same job.
