"content_text": "We're hosting our first in-person tasting event at the Tunbridge Wells HQ on June 14. 20 seats, free entry, six teas tasted side-by-side with the curator team. Probably Darjeeling-led. Newsletter subscribers get first pick of the seats.\n\nSide-by-side tasting (also called cupping in trade speak) is how we evaluate every new tea before stocking it. The same brewing parameters across six small bowls: 3g leaf, 150ml water at the right temperature for the family, four minutes steep. You smell each cup dry, then wet, then taste with a spoon. The differences between teas you might think were similar become obvious in two minutes.\nThe Darjeeling line-up will likely run a first flush (the spring crop, light and floral), a second flush (early summer, the muscatel notes), a single estate (probably Castleton or Margaret's Hope), and a higher leaf grade so people can taste the leaf-quality difference. Plus a comparison cup of a supermarket \"Darjeeling\" so the contrast is clear. Exact line-up depends on what is fresh on June 14.\n6.30pm start, 90 minutes. Tea and a small sweet alongside (probably one of the Border biscuits we are currently sitting on). HQ is the Tunbridge Wells office near the station, walking distance from the train. Free, but the 20 seats book up and we are not running a waitlist. Newsletter subscribers get the link a week early; if it does not fill the room, public booking opens the Friday before.\nOnline sales build a customer base; in-person events build the curator relationship. Most of the people who buy from us never meet the team, and the team is what most reviews say is the best thing about us. June 14 is the test of whether the in-person format works. If it does, we will run one monthly through the autumn, themed around different tea families and brands.\nBrowse the related about teas.co.uk Tunbridge Wells at teas.co.uk.\n\nSource: Teas.co.uk.
