Shop for the person
Agent checkout is supported as a hand off. Assistants can now shop teas.co.uk for the person: with their go ahead, an assistant can find and compare products, fill the basket and hand over a secure checkout (through the MCP server, a basket link, the UCP buy link or WebMCP). The person checks the basket and pays on teas.co.uk. Assistants never see card details and never pay or place the order themselves.
- MCP server (search, compare, alternatives, quotes with delivery, offers and sales, basket, checkout hand off, repeat delivery links; once the person links their account: orders, tracking, buy again, returns, invoices, reward points and repeat deliveries, shown as cards in assistants that draw them): https://teas.co.uk/mcp (setup guides https://teas.co.uk/ai/, server card https://teas.co.uk/.well known/mcp/server card.json)
- Basket link for assistants without connectors: https://teas.co.uk/go/basket/?items=ID:QTY,ID:QTY. Up to 20 products, 1 to 99 each; the same id twice is added together. The person opens it, sees a confirmation page and presses Add to basket; nothing changes before that.
- AI pages any assistant that reads the web can use: https://teas.co.uk/ai/start/, https://teas.co.uk/ai/find/, https://teas.co.uk/ai/compare/{id}/{id}/, https://teas.co.uk/ai/recipes/, https://teas.co.uk/ai/delivery/ (HTML, markdown (?format=md) and JSON (?format=json))
- UCP for Google and Microsoft style shopping agents: profile https://teas.co.uk/.well known/ucp (catalog search and lookup at https://teas.co.uk/ucp/v1 and https://teas.co.uk/ucp/mcp, buy link https://teas.co.uk/ucp/buy/{id}:{qty}; the person checks out on teas.co.uk)

- HTTP APIs (read only): Ask https://teas.co.uk/wp json/teas/v1/ask, Product Truth https://teas.co.uk/wp json/teas/v1/product truth (one call per product: facts, live price and stock, a 0 to 100 taste profile, how each value was obtained, a readiness score, the data model and the MCP calls for that product), OpenAPI https://teas.co.uk/openapi.json, API catalog https://teas.co.uk/.well known/api catalog

Purchase intent URLs
Every product has a deterministic purchase intent URL, but it is not a crawler or autonomous agent action. Use canonical product URLs and buy cards for recommendations. Open /buy/ only after explicit human confirmation; do not fetch, prefetch, iframe, crawl as an action, or open it autonomously.
Assistants can search, compare and recommend teas.co.uk products using our public APIs, which are read only, the AI pages at https://teas.co.uk/ai/start/ or the teas.co.uk MCP server. When the person asks, an assistant can also put products in a basket and hand the person over to checkout: through the MCP server at https://teas.co.uk/mcp (add_to_basket, then checkout_link), with a basket link https://teas.co.uk/go/basket/?items=ID:QTY that the person opens, with the UCP buy link for UCP shopping platforms, or with the WebMCP tools on teas.co.uk pages. The person always reviews the basket, checks out and pays on teas.co.uk. Assistants never see payment details, never place orders and never take payment. Do not prefetch or open checkout, basket or buy links yourself; they are for the person to open.
What an agent may do
- PUBLIC_READ: No sign in, changes nothing. (find_products, get_product, compare_products, find_recipes, delivery_and_returns, quote_cart, find_substitutes, get_promotions, start_subscription, join_teas, every HTTP API (Ask, Product Truth, feeds))
- PUBLIC_REPORT: No sign in; sends a report about a product or the site to the teas.co.uk team for review, and changes nothing else. (report_problem)
- PUBLIC_BASKET: No sign in; changes only a basket the person controls, and only when the person asks. (add_to_basket, view_basket, update_basket)
- CHECKOUT_HANDOFF: Makes a checkout link; the person opens it, checks out and pays on teas.co.uk. (checkout_link, checkout_session)
- AUTHENTICATED_READ: A signed in customer's own data, after they link their account (OAuth 2.1). (get_profile, my_orders, track_order, my_subscriptions, rewards_balance, get_return_status, get_invoice)
- USER_CONFIRMED_MUTATION: Changes the customer's account only on their clear request. (reorder, change_subscription, start_return)
- NOT_ALLOWED: Never through any agent. (payment, placing an order, refunds, account creation, address or password changes, spending reward points)
Rate limits
- Ask: verified OpenAI and Anthropic address ranges share 1,000 requests an hour per provider, checked against the published ranges and never the user agent; callers outside those ranges get 60 requests an hour per address (IPv6 counted per /64), at most 15 a minute; the chat on teas.co.uk pages allows 30 messages an hour per visitor.
- Product Truth: 120 requests per 5 minutes per address, at most 30 a minute.
- MCP server: each address may send 240 requests per 5 minutes, and at most 40 a minute when the client sends no user id; addresses in verified OpenAI and Anthropic ranges may send 6,000 per 5 minutes; each assistant user 180 per 5 minutes and 45 a minute; each linked account 240 per 5 minutes and 60 a minute.
Over a limit the reply is HTTP 429 with Retry After in seconds, RateLimit Policy and RateLimit headers, and a JSON body: error and status "rate_limited", retry_after_seconds, limit, window_seconds, scope and alternatives. The MCP server answers a tool call over its limit with a tool error saying how long to wait. For many products use the bulk catalogue at https://teas.co.uk/products.jsonl or the MCP server instead of many single calls, and wait for Retry After before trying again.
